Privacy policy
Short version: this website has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no forms. It only needs the basics any web server and GitHub require to work.
Who this policy is for
This policy covers the website ripple.weebec.com, which presents Ripple, a free and open-source music player made by Plipps45. It explains what happens to your data when you visit it. It does not cover the Ripple app itself or the other sites we link to.
What we don't do
We don't use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social media widgets. There are no accounts and no forms. Fonts and scripts are served from our own server, so no third party is contacted to display the page.
Server logs
Our hosting provider, Hostinger, automatically records technical data for every request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, your browser and operating system, and the page you came from.
This is needed to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. We don't use it to identify you or to build profiles. Hostinger keeps these logs according to its privacy policy.
GitHub: latest version and downloads
To show the latest version and the right download links, your browser asks the GitHub API (api.github.com) for Ripple's latest release when you open the page. When you download Ripple, the file comes from GitHub.
In both cases GitHub receives your IP address and browser details and processes them under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Stored in your browser
Two small entries are saved in your browser. They never leave your device and are not cookies:
ripple-lang (local storage) remembers the language you chose, so the site opens in it next time.
ripple-release (session storage) keeps the latest release information until you close the tab, so GitHub is not asked on every visit.
You can remove both at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Links to other sites
Buttons to GitHub and Buy Me a Coffee take you to those services. Once there, their own privacy policies apply, including the Buy Me a Coffee privacy policy if you decide to support the project.
Your rights
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, server logs are processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in running a secure website. You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, or object to its processing. Because we hold no accounts or names, we usually cannot link a log entry to a specific person. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
This website is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
Contact
For questions about this policy, contact Plipps45 through GitHub. For non-private questions you can also open an issue; issues are public, so don't include personal data there.
